A TOE IN THE WATER

UNKNOWN ARTIST

Are you used to speaking up for what you believe? I thought I was until recently. Now I sense some kind of fear and reluctance to open up here on a blog even though I speak plainly to friends and family in person. The issues of our times are big and important. We all need to stand up and be counted, in my opinion. Tell me what you think, please.

I agree that it's good to stand up and be counted, but that's so much easier to do when in the presence of friends and family because rejection isn't likely if there is disagreement. It's risky to talk about controversial subjects on a blog because you know you will encounter differing opinions and many people just aren't nice when it comes to disagreeing. Who wants/needs that? Go ahead and just enjoy making your blog a fun place for you to be.

Love the baby in the water...

As always Pam has really good points. I think it depends on you, Lizza, what your heart tells you to do. I, for one, would enjoy reading your thoughts on the "big and important" things, but I don't want your joy to fall away.

I started my blog to say what was on my mind and heart without having to defend it.

Your blog is an expression of the you that you want to be.

I like the fun, optimistic, artsy vibe you are sending out and I think if I met you in person, I would not be disappointed in the least!!

Speak your mind, I, for one, would love to listen.

To Pam, Cherie and Lisa, I appreciate your thoughts so much. I'll keep feeling my way around, and I'll try to be both upbeat and a bit more serious from time to time.

This week, my serious thought is about the disgraceful event in Portland (Oregon) a few days ago when an effigy of an American soldier was burned in the street! How sad I felt and alienated from the people who could do such a thing while other Americans are risking their all to protect us and to free Iraqis.

May our Lord have mercy upon us all.
